SHOULD WE BE SPENDING OUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON HIGH END FASHION BRANDS?

Should we be spending our hard earned money on high end luxury brands? My answer is yes. Fashion is universal because we all have to wear something. Meaning you might as well try to get the most for your money. We all love to wear a piece of clothing that makes us feel special. Have you ever heard people in fashion say things like? -“it’s an investment piece or I invested in this and that brand.’ It is because they are investing in fashion pieces. Majority of the high end luxury fashion brands have really good resale value. But there is a caveat. You should splash the cash wisely. Just know that you do not need to break the bank to look fashionable.

Good Quality:

Quality means different things to different people.
Just because many people are going for certain pieces does not mean they are of good quality.
You can sometimes tell by the look or feel of the fabric. Also the labels inside the cloth helps a lot.One thing to note here is – just because it’s a luxury brand and expensive does not equate to great quality. So choose carefully on how you spend your money.
From a personal experience I have shopped from inexpensive brands and high end luxury brands and sometimes the inexpensive brands have stood the test of time better.
There are a lot of high end luxury fashion brands who have extremely good quality pieces, so does high street brands. The trick is to be able to spot them.
Please be careful here! Because some high end luxury brands just package and sale rubbish to consumers, because they have made a name for themselves. There is a massive problem here, because a lot of consumers assume they always sell good quality while they are not in some cases.
I do a lot of window shopping to test out different brands by feeling the fabrics, looking at the seems, trying them on etc. I must tell you that I have been really disappointed in some cases. Ask all the right questions, research, check what the fabrics are made of before splashing the cash.
There are a lot of good quality pieces out there. You just have to find them.

Resale Value:

One thing is certain. Which is resale value. Have you seen how vintage luxury fashion brands resale? Things like handbags, belts, coats, jackets, wrist watches and many other accessories.
I know a lot of people are not afforded the luxury of spending loads of money on fashion. But is there any harm in buying at least one piece from a high end luxury fashion brand that you love.
I have these boots that whenever I should feel like selling them, I will not be short of buyers, because they are the types of boots that will never go out of style.
My advice would be to buy high end luxury brands that are timeless.
Don’t just splash the cash because it’s trendy, splash the cash on high end luxury brands that falls in line with your style and identity, as these will never go out of style for you.
Shop for what works for you! Shop for pieces that you can easily incorporate into your wardrobe.
Fashion is a statement, it’s your identity. It tells who you are and what you are about.
Never follow trends for trends sake. If you have it, you have it.

Investment:

You can invest in so many things. It does not only have to be in shares, bonds and housing.
People invest in luxury watches, handbags and shoes to name a few.
Do you know the number of times I have seen people resale handbags with a profit? Sometimes this is possible due to scarcity of the bag, discontinuation of that particular style or high demand of this particular piece. What they all have in common is high quality.
My advice would be to take good care of your pieces, because you may be able to make a nice profit from them a few years down the line.
The love of fashion will never stop. Clothing, accessories and style is an armour, it makes us feel fantastic. Nobody wants to be out in these streets naked or looking haggard – “laughs“

Design:

When it comes to designs, majority of the high end luxury brands come out with innovative, interesting and trendy designs.
It may sometimes not be original from them but what they do well is draw inspirations from other places to create great pieces.
We also see luxury brands, that are copied by some high street brands. This happens all the time. We call them dupes or cheaper alternatives. The truth of the matter is, the original is always the original, but you can sometimes shop for alternatives at a high street brand, that will serve the purpose, as well as giving what you want for your style.

Unique Pieces:

There are lots of unique and statements pieces out there. Though at a high cost but people love to stand out. That is why you see certain fashionistas customise some of their pieces. Am not going to name check any brands here. But we all know the brands with the unique pierces and they are so good.

Trends / You Stand Out:

You can bet that a lot of trends are started by high end luxury brands.
You should never follow trends that don’t gel with your style. Never buy a piece because it’s trendy, buy it because it’s your style and can be easily incorporated into what you already have in your wardrobe.
Some people love to be seen. They love to stand out and it’s amazing. They wear interesting pieces that makes them standout from the crowd. I have come across al lot people where I was like wow, you look so stylish. You want to be able to have a signature and an edge to your style. The types of people you see and you wonder where they got their outfit from. We love a stand out moment.

We’ve Arrived:

Wearing luxury brands can make people feel like they’ve arrived and are doing well for themselves. There is nothing wrong in feeling this way. I call it feeling better and rewarding yourself. You can define this how you deem fit.
The most important thing here. Do what makes you happy. For some fashion/style is what brings you peace, joy and comfort.

It Is Not Fast Fashion:

It is good for the environment. Majority of the high end pieces are made of better quality than most other fashion brands.
You can also buy them preloved, which is always good.
Consumers are encouraged to buy preloved and thrifted pieces. This really helps in sustaining the planet. It’s really scary what happens in the fast fashion industry.
It is very easily done. You can contribute to making the world a better place by thrifting. I will tell you from a personal experience as one who does a lot of thrifting, you will find many great, and unique pieces and sometimes even vintage high end fashion brands. Please give thrifting a try.

They Actually Feel Luxurious On The Skin:

Well made fabrics feel really good on the skin. You can tell that it’s made of good quality by the way they feel. A prime example for me was a recent purchase I made.
I was like this is really made to last. It felt so sumptuous which is also a testament to its quality.
Cashmere for instance. A good quality cashmere is worth the investment. They stand the test of time and will always keep you warm.

In conclusion. Should you spend your hard earned cash on luxury high end fashion brands? I would say yes. This is, if you have the financial capacity to do so. Times are hard. Cost of living has skyrocketed. My advice will be. If you really love a luxury brand, you can always buy them preloved. Spend money wisely, don’t rush to buy new trends, think really deeply before splashing the cash. Ask yourself these questions- Do I really need this right now? Is this trend right for me? Do I even like them? Will this work with what I already have in my wardrobe? Is this my style? Are they interesting enough to make me stand out from the crowd? If the answer to all these questions is yes. Then splash the cash. The moral of the story here is. Investment in fashion is mainly for our enjoyment. If you happen to make a little bit of money along the way then it is a nice bonus.
Enjoying the pieces is the reward. Nobody wants to buy something, they don’t intend to enjoy. Don’t buy it, if you don’t see the fun in the piece.
