Should Men Be Using Cosmetic Products?

Should men be using cosmetic products? My answer would be yes and here is why.I use  cosmetic products myself, things like body cream, face cream, lip balms and beard oils  to name a few.And  who wants to be running around looking haggard /worn out when a little bit of TLC  can be of immense help. I promise you! We want you to look your best at all times.

Keeps You  Looking Refreshed:
Trust me! You don’t want to be looking fatigued and exhausted. The cosmetic products I love, brings me a lot of feel good factor. It’s never a good thing to see someone in the morning at work and they look like they’ve been partying all weekend, because of a lack of little bit of TLC to the skin.

Makes You Feel Good About Yourself:
Using a good moisturiser makes you feel good about your self in my personal opinion. For me, it makes me feel a lot fresher, cleaner and most of all, free from being ashy. Having a beautiful well moisturised skin is a really good thing. Let’s look at it this way, if you use sunscreen on your skin it protects you from numerous skin issues, so does using a normal body cream, because it is good for maintaining and keeping a healthy looking skin.

Brings You A lot Of Calming Factor:
Applying a really good cosmetic product to the skin brings you a lot of calm. You can also use a shower/bath gel that helps you to unwind after a long day at work, they also help with relaxation.

Confidence:
A lot of people tend to overlook how cleanliness brings you a lot of comfort, confidence and joy. Using a good combination of beautiful cosmetic products can be a mood lifter, it can also be of immense advantage in the way you feel on a day to day basis, I must tell you this, I can never step out of the house without using all my daily moisturisers.

It’s Luxuriating:
Luxury can mean so many things and different things to us as individuals. For me, it is luxuriating to have a wonderful shower and be able to apply all my cosmetics afterwards.It is soothing for me, as I tend to have a moment to myself, in my own company to ponder about so many things, it brings me a moment of calmness, that I can’t really explain, but all I can say is, I love how it makes me feel. It will be a good thing for so many men to try things like this, especially on a weekend, or when they are less busy, to take the time to be kind to themselves and their skin, because nobody wants to be out here with a skin that looks like they’ve not had a shower for years, if you know what I mean.I remember speaking to a gentleman in Manchester a few years ago and he told me that it is not manly for a man to use moisturisers and I was like no wonder.So my question to him was, so you think I am not manly enough, for using a face cream, body lotion, lip balm and things like this? And he kept quiet. I saw him a few weeks later, and he said to me! You know what?, You are right!!Because after our conversation, I went home and realised how rough my skin really was “I was like you have to pay a consultation fee and we laughed so hard afterwards.

Men Are Allowed To  Make An Effort On Their Appearance Too:
You hear a few men say things like-why should I be taking a lot of time to get ready, when I am leaving the house? Or you hear things like those types of things are for women only. Mate listen and relax! “Men are allowed to make an effort on their appearance too”. I will tell you this, nobody wants to be around someone that is stale, ashy, haggard and unkempt, trust me on this, even those individuals who say that men are not suppose to use things like this. If not for anyone, for your own sake at least.Why do you think they make cosmetic products for men? Have you ever asked yourself that question? Think about it!! It is absolutely a necessity to treat your skin and yourself with the kindness it deserves, because a happy skin equates to a happy looking and confident individual.

Vanity Is Actually A Good Thing:
Vanity is actually a good thing in my book and has always been, and I will tell you why. I am not talking about obsessive and unhealthy vanity, where you are trying to please other people, and where you are trying to be better looking than everyone  else your age and never wanting to age gracefully.Vanity is a good thing when it’s for you and only for you. When you are making the best of what you have, to look good, comfortable and confident. When you are just kind to yourself and when it makes you feel wonderful about yourself, for yourself and not for anyone else.When you are like, I am ok with what I have going on for me, but I am going to use some make up or cosmetics to make myself look better for myself. For instance, If you always have dry lips and you use a lip balm to prevent your lips from being broken and rough, that is good vanity.Please never try to use cosmetics to impress others, it is a necessity that is worth having for enhancing what we already have, which is our beautiful and wonderful self. So men should absolutely enhance what they already have and keep it fresh and invigorating.

You Don’t Want Be Out Here Looking Unkempt:
Nobody wants to be out here looking rough with dry, aged and unkempt skin. If you have a beard, that beard needs to be combed and oiled properly, there are plethora of cosmetic products for all men depending on your personality, so there should never be an excuse in this day and age for you to be out here looking untidy, dry and ashy.

They Are Really Not That Extortionate:
Cosmetics are not that expensive, especially when it comes to the basics like body creams, lip balms, foot creams, hand creams to name a few. You can buy a lot of good cosmetic products in places like Boots, Poundland, Super Drugs, The Body Shop for a reasonable price.

What I normally do, is to buy what I need for the month at the beginning of each month and that makes a lot of financial sense for me. I will suggest you do that as well if you can.

Having A Good Shower Is Part Of It:
Of course you have to have a clean skin to apply any cosmetic products to your skin. Having a long shower on days when I have a lot of free time to burn, is the best thing ever because I love it afterwards, when I apply my moisturisers. It is a luxury that I am so glad to have because a lot of people are not afforded this, and I don’t take it for granted. I don’t know about you, but I can never go without applying face cream, for instance, as I have hyperpigmentation and I make sure to use the right face cream for this. You only have one skin, so you should take good care of it.
We are allowed to say that we use cosmetic products and not feel some type of way about it! Right? Just saying!

Self Awareness  And Actually Loving Yourself:
For me, using cosmetic products means a sense of awareness, actually loving your self. There are different kinds of self love, for me using a good cosmetic product on my skin and for myself, is the self care and self love that I will continue to afford to myself. Being aware of how your skin feels and wanting to take care of it, is a very good thing.

In conclusion, cosmetics for me are a necessity that is worth having, for enhancing what we already have, which is our beautiful and wonderful self. It tells that you have self awareness and that you care about yourself.It does not make you less of a man If you use them, be proud to say that you use cosmetic products amongst your friends, because there is no shame in wanting to be the best version of you.
