I take care of my skin out of self-respect, not vanity. Since it helps me feel good, ash-free, and connected to myself, I take it seriously. Skin care isn’t just about looking good to me; it’s also about feeling complete. It brings me peace every day, I like how I feel when I wash my face, moisturise it, and see that my reflection gets a little brighter every day.
My Everyday Skincare Staples
I use and adore the products listed below.
Each one has earned a spot in my routine because it leaves my skin feeling alive, balanced, hydrated, and moisturised.

Hyaluronic Acid: Long-Lasting, Deep Hydration
This is my go-to for locking in moisture.
It gives my skin a full, dewy look that makes it feel alive.

Vitamin C Serum: Glow and Brightens
Great for skin that looks dull or tired.
It helps even out the skin tone, smooth out the texture, and bring out the natural glow.

My skin can better absorb everything after using a gentle toner.
I prefer toners that contain AHA, BHA, and PHA to exfoliate dead skin cells, as well as pads that revitalise and hydrate my skin without stripping it. Additionally, I prefer toners that contain vitamin C and tea tree.

Cleanser: A Must-Have
Everything starts with a clean face.
To get rid of dirt without drying me out, I use a mild cleanser.

Eye Cream: A Tiny Tube, a Significant Impact
Do not skip it.
After a long night of editing content, it keeps my eyes clear and hydrated.

The Reset Days: Sheet Masks and Exfoliators
When my skin needs extra care, I use an exfoliator or mask to restore its smoothness and glow.

Moisturiser: Sealing It All In
Using anything won’t help if you don’t seal it in.
The final step that locks in moisture and calm is a moisturiser that is rich but not heavy.

SPF 50: An Essential
After moisturising, there’s one last step that makes everything work: protection. If there’s one step I never skip, it’s SPF. Avoiding sunburn isn’t the only reason I take care of my skin; I also want to keep the even tone, smooth texture, and healthy, confident glow that I’ve worked so hard to achieve.
I use La Roche-Posay Invisible Fluid SPF 50 because it’s very light, blends well, and doesn’t show up on any skin tone. It protects well without leaving a white cast or greasy finish. Putting on SPF is the last thing I do in my skincare routine.

Why It Matters
Skin care isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being consistent.
For me, It is a small daily act that lets me know I’m worth the effort.
It is also a peaceful ritual that helps you slow down, breathe, and connect.
If you’re queer, African, creative, or just someone learning self-care on your terms, let your mirror be your witness, not your judge.
