My partner enjoys a good road trip because it is a sustainable way to travel, plus it is an adventure in itself. Over time, I’ve come to enjoy it equally. So, we packed up for our road trip, grabbed some snacks, charged the car, and headed towards Strasbourg for the first stop on our journey to Brittany.
Our Stay
Hannong Hotel, Strasbourg:

Although we only stayed for a night, I would highly recommend this hotel due to its excellent location and affordable price.
Le Parvis:

I wasn’t sure about this quaint little hotel—it’s a traditional French house converted into a cosy stay. However, the unique decor and the location right in front of the world famous cathedral of Chartres was what won me over. To get there by car however was a bit of an adventure. Passing checkpoints and very narrow alleys to get there. Since our stay was only for one night, my partner enjoyed tea for breakfast before we left, while I took in the atmosphere.
A Friend’s Flat in Paris:

When we are in Paris, we are lucky enough to stay at a friend’s flat in a neighbourhood close to Place de la Republique with lots of shops and public transportation. It is a perfect spot to enjoy the city!
Places We Visited
Strasbourg Cathedral:

The architecture here is stunning, a must-see in Strasbourg.
Versailles Palace:

We enjoyed the peaceful grounds and saw the magnificent exterior, even though it was closed when we arrived.
Chartres:

A small town with narrow streets and an older architecture. The drive was challenging, but it was worth it to see the beautiful Our Lady of Chartres Cathedral.
Discovering Brittany
Upon reaching Brittany, we settled in, went grocery shopping, and started our adventures.
Plozévet:

We thoroughly enjoyed afternoon tea with Aline’s family, followed by a hike.
Audierne:
This lovely seaside town was a peaceful stop. While we were staying in Brittany, we visited it a couple of times.
Quimper:
Filled with historical sites, we spent hours walking around and taking in everything.
Pointe de la Torche:

A stunning beach village where we enjoyed the scenery while strolling along the shore.
Pointe de Trévignon:

This is a hidden gem on the coast with jaw-dropping views, perfect for a stroll and some time to chill out.
Carnac Stones:

We spent an hour and a half driving to see this historic site—such an enriching experience!
Côte Sauvage:

Christoph has been here before, but this was my partner, and I’s first time. The landscape was absolutely unforgettable.
The return to Paris

After days of exploration, we drove back to Paris, which was a six-hour journey. Paris is always a treat, especially with the lively vibe of the city, and we spent two nights there.
Things to Do in Brittany

Brittany is full of beautiful beaches, villages, and a rich history. Visit seaside towns such as Audierne and Pointe de la Torche for beach views, and visit the historic Carnac Stones. Hike along the coast at Côte Sauvage and Point de Trévignon. Experience medieval architecture in Quimper and immerse yourself in the local culture of Plozévet. Brittany is a great place to enjoy nature, history, and French culture.
Where and What We Ate

Flow Food Family:
My partner and I enjoyed a fruit salad, chai, and organic Kombucha.
Ramen Shop:
My partner enjoyed vegetarian ramen, while I had spicy beef ramen.
La Picoterie:
We had tasty salads and crêpes, as well as refreshing lemonade and water.
Café du Marché:
I had a delicious meal of croque saumon, Orangina, and carrot cake.
Home Cooking:
We made several dishes, from salad and potato soup to lentil soup and homemade pizza.
Columbus Cafe & Co:
We enjoyed a lunch of bagels, cookies, and drinks.
Savage & Mousson:
The place has a great plantain platter and jollof rice with a twist.
Café Republique:
The food was decent, but it was not particularly impressive. However, people watching made up for it.
La Bonne Bière:
I was hoping for a great croque, but it didn’t meet my expectations.
Pros and Cons
Pros
There are numerous beautiful scenery and villages, as well as great places to hike and do outdoor activities.
Cons
There is a poor internet connection and limited public transportation in Brittany, so a car is necessary.
